Heart of Tasmania.
The plane flew out of the concrete path of the airport imperceptibly and began to climb abruptly, leaving somewhere far below the waking Sydney. Ahead we have an exciting journey to the only island-state of Australia.
Tasmania for every Australian, and many people around the world, is associated with natural reserves, mighty forests, clean rivers, an abundance of fruits and berries. An island for tourism and recreation 200 kilometers to the south of the mainland.
In the valley of Yoon there live our compatriots. We visited Tanya and Andrei Rebikov, who moved here about 10 years ago from Sydney.
– This place is located 45 minutes from Hobart, therefore, although around a really mighty forest, we are still not so far from the civilization of the capital city.
Andrei – I was born in Latvia, I was in Germany during the war, but came to Australia in May 1949. Lived first in the Sydney area of Bass Hill. My parents worked, I went to school. Then they moved to the Pendle Hill area, where they lived until 1999, before being transferred to Tasmania.
Andrei – I’m an electrician, I worked at Westinghouse for more than 20 years. I always wanted to start my own business, and for thirteen years I worked in my business. We served industrial electric motors, and also created a device for heating the bearings. With him, we even participated in the international exhibition in Hanover in Germany. This trip reminded me of my young years. I met old friends.
– We are very pleased with our choice, and still in love with Tasmania.
So our short trip to the south of Tasmania ended. We return to Sydney, we are waiting for work on another issue of the newspaper. And on the next visit there is still much that we did not have time to see: Mount Cradle in the center of the island, the Tamar valley and the city of Launceston in the north, the eastern coast of the greenest state of Australia. 1 comment.
