How I moved from Kiev to Israel: Ani Laricheva’s personal experience.
Anya Laricheva is a freelancer from Kiev. A few months ago she left her beloved detachable room in the capital, packed her things and flew to Haifa. About the main differences between life in Israel and Ukraine, local residents, the process of adaptation in a new country and grandiose plans to learn Hebrew – read the material below.
In the direction of Israel, I never really looked, so in the list of priority countries for the visit, he did not appear absolutely, but the fate was different. I met my future boyfriend, ironically the above fate, we both grew up in Krivoy Rog.
He immigrated to Israel 6 years ago. We exchanged visits and realized that all modern ways of communication except live communication are not suitable for us.
The question is, who is moving to whom, did not stand: I am an easy-going person and a freelancer in combination. And so, having closed all my affairs, leaving my beloved detachable room in the center of the capital, I, as it seemed to me then, was ready to move.

In general, I did not encounter any inconvenience when moving, but the visa-free regime with Israel has a lot of pitfalls, because, in fact, a visa you must receive on arrival, and this can be quite problematic, especially if you are an unmarried girl from the country CIS.
The reason is simple: if such a girl stays in the sacred land, marries a Jew and, horrified, gives birth to children, these children will be citizens of Israel, but they will no longer be Jews, which is extremely threatening the loss of the national or religious identity of the state.

In Kiev, I worked as a freelance copywriter, so there was nothing to stop taking work with me.
Unfortunately, the attitude towards freelancing in Ukraine turned out to be quite conservative, not all of them were satisfied that their freelancer would live in another country, albeit with the same time zone, with access to the Internet (yes, Israel also has Internet) so full time first time I did not have.

I built many plans, most of which never materialized. Here in Israel, I live in the city of Haifa, it’s like Krivoy Rog, just more boring. Although it is considered the third largest city in the country after Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
In Haifa, a lot of Russian immigrants, cheap housing and the sea. Perhaps, there is nothing more to say and nothing, the establishments here are absolutely monotonous, that’s why it’s not very interesting to go to pubs and bars. Boredom is mortal.
Basically, with the native Israelis, I do not have anything to do with, so I’m in touch with them very indirectly. But you can not fail to notice that they are very sociable, for example, someone can approach you, even if you are alone with a guy in the park.

As a youth in Haifa is entertained, it’s a mystery to me: I’m sure that the average young Kievite would long ago have been withered from longing. But I understand that I judge subjectively, I do not have many acquaintances and not all the places are still known.
Everything interesting happens in Tel-Aviv, where all life, all the fun: parties, art events, etc. I hope that in the near future we will manage to move there.

The main difference between Israel and Ukraine is that people here are more calm, confident in the future, there is a huge number of children.
Even in quarrels between people on the streets, it’s more like a hot temper, rather than real aggression.
In Ukraine, we live in the present day, break away on the verge of hysteria, because nothing else is expected in the near future.
The second difference is Sabbath: Friday is a day off, most of the transport from 16:00 on Friday until 16:00 on Saturday does not work. Sunday is the first working day and the beginning of the week, but you just need to get used to it.
Here in Israel, I live in the city of Haifa, it’s like Krivoy Rog, just more boring.
Everyone knows that in Israel there is a permanent war, and you also willy-nilly, because in any company where there is a recently moved person, the conversation will necessarily go about war or money.
The philosophy of saving money is also different, we take it for stinginess, we still feel ashamed of saving. In a nutshell, do not describe.

Life in Israel is very expensive. If to compare, more expensive than in Europe, and if you translate into hryvnia, then the heart begins to tingle a little. Naturally, Israel’s salaries, even the minimum, are enough for a decent life.

The first few months the idea of returning visited me at least once a day, then less and less often, now I just want to visit my mom for a week.
It happens very sad, of course, not without it, but I think this is a common thing when moving to a contrasting habitat.
The nearest future I want to devote to finding my place under the sun of Israel, I was invited to a modeling agency – I’ll try, why not? I have not been on casting since I was 18, I will continue to work remotely, I will learn Hebrew, I will finally make myself and give life to a blog about Israel, travel and emotions. All the fun is ahead.

The surest way to move somewhere is to find a hacker. sad even somehow.
Slave philosophy. A person should be able to change the place of residence as he wants. At least with a lover, though without.
envious, or what? Do not they take you to the bride?
I hope that Ana likes to live in our country. Good luck!
On the Haifa embankment there is a restaurant near Ilya. Very soon it will be updated. Designer furniture made in Ukraine is already on the road. I hope our design will be pleasant to the residents and guests of the city and will be a pleasant place for pastime. Tasty food and now, but the atmosphere is changing).
